Nachum welcomed Daniel Pearlman to this morning’s JM in the AM to discuss the campaign going on to help Yeshiva Gedolah Ohr Chodosh in Sea Gate, Brooklyn, rebuild after their recent devastating fire.
From the Dryveup.com campaign page:
Our bachurim today need something more.
The field of chinuch is one that is built on a paradoxical balancing act — remaining tethered to generations-old mesorah while utilizing methods effective for our talmidim in this era.
Yeshiva Gedolah Ohr Chodosh in Seagate, a bais medrash for bachurim from all across the East Coast, is an institution that has managed to bridge this contradiction with remarkable results B”H.
Under the leadership of the Rosh Yeshiva Rav Eliyahu Sonnenschein, together with the Menahel Rav Moshe Lamm, Yeshiva Gedolah Ohr Chodosh was founded seven years ago upon the unwavering belief that each Talmid, with his natural abilities and unique areas of interest, must be recognized and appreciated, ultimately becoming the cornerstone of his personal aliyah. While allowing each and every Talmid to be true to himself, his kochos are tapped into and unlocked to realize his greatest hatzlocha in Torah and growth in ruchniyus.
But good things never come easy.
The growing yeshiva was recently struck by a fire which damaged the Bais Medrash and Dormitory, derailing the yeshiva’s regular operations. Fortunately the damage to the bais medrash was properly restored, but the impact on the dorm space has proven to be more significant and the lack of a successful resolution to-date continues to hinder the yeshiva’s lofty mission.
A critical undertaking has been launched to renovate the facility and take the yeshiva into the future. This endeavor received the appropriate name: FORWARD.
Today, the yeshiva and all who care about our bachurim’s future are looking forward —
Forward to a renovated yeshiva building.
Forward to putting the devastating fire behind us.
Forward to bachurim filled with fire and bren for life.
But we can’t do it alone.
We urge you to please join us in stepping up for this wonderful institution and help ensure that Ohr Chodosh can continue serving our bachurim.
Acquire a zechus in Torah and tefilah that will last for eternity by being part of Forward today.
Generations of Bnei Torah are counting on you!
