Nachum featured the vital work of the Matzoh Fund with Founder and President Alan Hirsch on this morning’s JM in the AM. Once again, Alan and his team are putting in Herculean efforts to help those in need for Pesach and they could really use all of our support. Below you can read a letter from Alan on the Matzoh Fund site.
Another year has passed and we are making our Pesach preparations.
Thanks to you last year was our best year ever. We were able to get to more families than ever before in more place than ever before.
This year we have a new battle: Inflation is hurting anyone and Yom Tov is getting even harder to make. And the prices we pay for the items we buy have gone up between 10 and 30%.
More people need help for Pesach and we have to be there to answer the call. We have been contacted by even more families than usual who are in serious need. They come from yishuvim such as Hebron, Kiryat Arba, Maaleh Amos, Bat Ayin, Metzad, Maale Chaver, Alon Shvut, Shilo, Homesh, Chavat Gilad, Yitzhar, Eli, Tapuach, Itamar, Maale Levana, Karmei Tzur and other remote places in Israel.
While most people do not know where these places are, we have that knowledge and the ability to deliver to every one of these places. Last year we distributed matzoh, wine, grape juice, chicken, olive oil, potatoes, and fruit to most of these families. For many of these families, it made Pesach possible. This year we hope to once again distribute meat. We also send a check or food vouchers to every family; this year, we are adding new food items to help these families with their Yom Tov needs.
Every penny that you give is spent on the purchase and distribution of their Pesach needs, with no other overhead what-so-ever.
We are in the midst of ordering wine, matzah, meat, and chicken. We must raise over $350,000 to cover these costs. In the past years you have been quite generous with your contributions. This year our costs have skyrocketed. As a result we are asking you to take an extra step and give a little more to help pay the extra costs. Once again, we need your help. We really value your contribution.
Please Help us Help
Sincerely,
Alan Hirsch
