Rabbi Benjamin Yudin, spiritual leader of Congregation Shomrei Torah in Fairlawn, New Jersey, called in to JM in the AM to discuss the Torah portion of the week. This week Rabbi Yudin discussed parshas Vayeitzei elaborating on the verses regarding Yaakov’s journey from Israel to the house of Lavan, and his well know dream of the ladder & angels. Rabbi Yudin explained the relationship between Yaakov and the Maariv (night-time) prayer, as well as the concept that the Maariv prayer is a “reshus,” or a lesser status than the Shachris (morning) or Minchah (afternoon) prayers.
