On his way to delivering a legal holiday shiur at the Bialystoker Synagogue on Manhattan’s Lower East Side, Rabbi Gil Student visited this morning’s JM in the AM for a fascinating conversation with Nachum Segal about a number of timely Torah topics. They also explored Rabbi Student’s new book entitled “Search Engine: Finding Meaning in Jewish Texts Volume 1: Jewish Life.” Rabbi Gil Student is the Book Editor of the Orthodox Union’s (OU) Jewish Action magazine, and former Managing Editor of OU Press, and an Orthodox Jewish blogger who writes about the interface between different facets of Judaism, specifically Orthodox Judaism and Modern Orthodox Judaism. He is an ordained non-pulpit serving Orthodox rabbi who serves on the Executive Committee of the Rabbinical Council of America and the Editorial Committee of the OU’s Jewish Action magazine.
