Nachum hosted Deborah Berman, Director of Social work at Yachad live in the studio during this morning’s JM in the AM to discuss Hineinu, a historic collaboration between the disability and human rights professionals in the orthodox, reform, conservative and reconstructionist movements to create a Jewish community that is more inclusive of Jews with disabilities. In the Conservative movement Yachad is working with USCJ (United Synagogues of Conservative Judaism) and the RA (Rabbinical Assembly); in the Reform movement they are working with the RAC (Religious Action Center); in the Reconstructionist movement they are working with the RRC (Reconstructionist Rabbinical College). The goal of the Hineinu initiative is to create a broader Jewish community that is inclusive of ALL individuals with disabilities and their families. Yachad plans to begin working with the Synagogues, Clergy and Community Leaders to bring this to the Synagogues, which is typically the center of the Jewish community.
