Nachum welcomed Rabbi Eli Schlanger, Assistant Rabbi of the Chabad of Bondi Beach, Australia, to this morning’s JM in the AM to discuss the 18for18 Lag BaOmer event coming up on May 11 in Australia.
From the 18for18 website:
Our Story
It started as a fanciful dream.
A few friends were shooting the breeze via zoom last weekend and someone put out a crazy idea:
What about making a massive online Lag Ba’omer unity event for the entire Australian Jewish community, after all, that’s what the festival is all about – Jewish pride and unity.
From there the idea grew legs, and within 24 hours the word got out to over 100 people of every conceivable background. Mums and dads, teens and retirees, plumbers and rabbis, secular and religious organisational heads. Just a grassroots group of community movers and shakers who all said “We are in!” It even reached the Prime Minister’s office and then went international with Chief Rabbis of other countries wanting to link their communities!
Who knows who will join…
