Nachum welcomed Malcolm Hoenlein, Executive Vice Chairman of the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations, back to JM in the AM this morning for the Weekly Update. In light of this being the end of the year, a time when Presidents will often issue pardons, Nachum and Malcolm began this week’s live Update by discussing the ongoing plight of Jonathan Pollard, and their hopes for his receiving a pardon from President Obama. They also spoke about this week’s passing of Edgar Bronfman ob”m, an incredibly accomplished gentleman who used his power and influence to help so many people. They covered a number of other timely issues including: Today’s bombing in the heart of Beirut, the terrorist attack in Bat Yam, Israel that was thwarted by a vigilant bus driver, escalating violence and terrorist activity against Israel, grass root efforts against prisoner releases in Israel, Malcolm’s feelings on Americans gathering/protesting against issues in Israel, the ASA boycott and the ensuing backlash, the status of Iran’s nuclear proliferation, Malcolm’s “end of the year message,” and much more.
