Nachum interviewed IDF Sergeant Yisrael (Sruli) Weiner about the program he designed to help supply almost 5000 active and reserve soldiers with arba minim (the 4 species) for Sukkot. Click here to support Sergeant Weiner’s efforts.

Bring Joy to an IDF Soldier
For many years the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) have supplied their active duty and reserve duty soldiers with sets of arba minim. Unfortunately, due to both budgetary restrictions as well as planning complications, there are never enough sets to accommodate the number of soldiers interested in fulfilling this mitzvah.
Just this past year, while serving in the Kfir infantry unit, Sergeant Yisrael (Sruli) Weiner, was unable to acquire a set during his active duty. At the time, Sruli was in his basic training and assumed this would be taken care of by the army. His unit is all observant soldiers and they had fifteen sets for over a hundred soldiers.
A veteran arba minim seller, Sruli recognized that he was just one of many unable to preform the mitzvah properly. This Sukkot Sruli, now a commander in the IDF, wants to make sure no soldiers go without.
In coordination with the IDF, Sruli has designed a program which will supply the almost 5000 active and reserve soldiers, men and women, interested in receiving an arba minim set, with one.
In conjunction with Shir Hadash, we can process your donation for arba minim and would be delighted if you would join this important initiative. Our program will ensure timely delivery of quality Etrog, Lulav, Hadas and Arava sets for our troops.
