Nachum welcomed Raphael Strauss to this morning’s JM in the AM to put the spotlight on the rare disorder called Xeroderma Pigmentosum (XP). “XP is an inherited condition characterized by an extreme sensitivity to ultraviolet (UV) rays from sunlight. This condition mostly affects the eyes and areas of skin exposed to the sun. Some affected individuals also have problems involving the nervous system.” Nachum and Raphael also discussed how so much of everyday life that people take for granted is impossible for people with XP to take part in because of their inability to go out in the sun. They also talked about the XP Society of Israel whose mission is to help people living with XP have a more “normal” life.
