Nachum Segal hosted Rabbi Rachmiel Rotheberger live in the studio at JM in the AM this morning to discuss the renowned work of Calvary Hospital and the launch event for their upcoming Torah restoration project. “From its inception in 1899, Calvary Hospital has been faithfully devoted to providing palliative care to adult patients in the advanced stages of cancer, and other life-limiting illnesses. Calvary is the only fully accredited acute care specialty hospital in the U.S. devoted to this special care.” Calvary invites everyone to the 92nd Street Y this Wednesday night, November 11 to help launch their Torah restoration project that aims to bring a Torah from 1880 back to kosher status over the course of a year’s time. “Calvary Hospital is embarking on a year-long restoration of a Torah scroll currently housed at their Bronx campus. The goal is to bring this Torah – dating from 1880 – back to kosher status, so that it may once again be used in Jewish rituals and religious services. Scroll No. 515, from the town of Taus-Domazlice in the Czech Republic, is on permanent loan to Calvary from the Memorial Scrolls Trust in London.”
