Thanks Nachum!
Before we begin, I want to take a moment to wish a happy 7th wedding anniversary to my loving and amazing wife Amanda.
Straight ahead on the Tuesday Morning JM in the AM Sports Update, we finish up the indoor sports with a repeat champion then head out to the baseball field a for a three-peat champion, each by the same two schools, and two other schools spoil each other’s repeat bids in Softball. All that and more, good morning, I’m Elliot Weiselberg.
The final game of the indoor sports season for us to report sees the SAR Sting repeating as the 2024 Boys JV Soccer champions. SAR went through the season and post season undefeated, knocking off Frisch 13-8 behind 6 goals by Noam Davies. The offensive output in the final was typical Sting, as the team went through their 10 games averaging just a little over 14 goals on their way to the crown.
Moving outdoors where things were a bit better for the Frisch Cougars who complete the 3-peat in Baseball, defeating the SAR Sting 4-1. The Cougars 3rd final in a row came in major part to a dominant playoffs by Akiva Rotenberg. The Junior pitcher posted 3 wins, giving up only 3 runs while striking out 28 opponents in the knockout stages.
Moving over to JV Softball where the Hillel Heat blanked the Netzach Hatorah Knights, 4-0. The win ends Netzach Hatorah’s bid at a repeat, and finishes off a perfect season for the Heat, while also avenging Netzach’s 2-0 win over Hillel in last year’s semifinal. Ironically, the two schools would then meet in a semifinal on the varsity stage where Netzach would return the favor, and end the Heat’s chances at a repeat in a dominant 10-3 result. Netzach will now move on to face fellow Eastern Conference rival Darchai in the finals. Both schools finished the season 7-1, with each taking a 1- run loss to the other over the year. The rubber match will come with the last championship of the 2024 Spring Season on the line.
Next week: the final sports update of the 2023-2024 school year.
And that was your Tuesday Morning JM in the AM Sports Update, I’m Elliot Weiselberg.
