Rabbi Benjamin Yudin, spiritual leader of Congregation Shomrei Torah in Fairlawn, New Jersey, called in to JM in the AM to discuss the Torah portion of the week. This week Rabbi Yudin discussed parshas Vayechi and the fast of Asara B’Teves which we are experiencing today. Rabbi Yudin elaborated upon the great significance of Asara B’Teves and how it is the only fast day in the Jewish calendar that can take place on Erev Shabbos. Rabbi Yudin explained how Yaakov Avinu achieved a state of immortality through his descendents following in his ways and adhering to Torah principles. In this Shabbos Chazak, the completing of the book of Bereishis, may we be strengthened in our relationship with the almighty and in our efforts to be close with Him.
