In anticipation of Sharsheret’s 2013 Annual Benefit coming up on this Sunday, May 5th Nachum Segal hosted Rochelle Shoretz, founder and Executive Director of Sharsheret on this morning’s JM in the AM to discuss the organization and how they continue to be a vital part of so many lives affected by breast cancer. Rochelle emphasized the need for greater awareness of health and wellness in the Jewish community. Sharsheret, Hebrew for “chain”, is a national not-for-profit organization supporting young women and their families, of all Jewish backgrounds, facing breast cancer. Their mission is to offer a community of support to women diagnosed with breast cancer or at increased genetic risk, by fostering culturally-relevant individualized connections with networks of peers, health professionals, and related resources. Nachum and Rochelle also discussed “One Woman at a Time,”a new documentary that Sharsheret has created to heighten the impact of their work. The benefit will be taking place at the Teaneck Marriott at Glenpointe, 100 Frank W. Burr Boulevard, Teaneck, New Jersey 07666, beginning at 10:30a.m.
