“October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, which is an annual campaign to increase awareness of the disease. While most people are aware of breast cancer, many forget to take the steps to have a plan to detect the disease in its early stages and encourage others to do the same. We have made a lot of progress but still have a long way to go and need your help!” Nachum welcomed Dr. Patrick Borgen, Chair of the Department of Surgery at Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY and head of the Brooklyn Breast Cancer Center at the Maimonides Cancer Center to this morning’s JM in the AM to discuss important information concerning breast cancer. Dr. Borgen emphasized the importance of mammograms and regular visits to a physician to aid in early detection. They also discussed the treatment innovations and more.
