Nachum was joined by Rabbi Dr. David Katz, Vice Dean, Professor of Dental Medicine and Director of Halachic Dentistry at Touro College of Dental Medicine, on this morning’s JM in the AM. They discussed a number of dental questions related to the upcoming holiday of Pesach including: 1) Can we kasher our teeth for Pesach? If not, what is the preferred way to clean them? 2) What should be done with removable devices such as crowns, bridges, braces and retainers? 3) Do you need a hechsher on flavored dental floss? Can that be used on Pesach? 4) What about tablets to clean dentures? Can those be used on Pesach without a hechsher? In addition to his work at Touro, Dr. Katz is the author of Kesser Dovid – The Halachic Guide to Dentistry, which provides an in – depth analysis of the wide range of laws pertaining to the practice of Dentistry.
