The JM in the AM/WFMU 2016 Fundraising Marathon has begun! Marathon proceedings run from 6am ET on Monday, March 7 until just after 9am ET on Friday March 18. It is an exciting and entertaining 2 weeks of programming that supports the backbone of great Jewish Radio and makes all of our great programming possible. Marathon 2015 Day 5, 03/11/2016
Week 1 of Marathon 2016 has ended with great excitement as we reached $72,000 and great anticipation for what week 2 will bring! As we head into Marathon weekend, and hope for more pledges to keep rolling in, please remember to spread the word to friends, family, fellow congregants and community members that JM in the AM needs the support of the entire, world-wide Jewish community. With much fanfare and excitement Mark Zomick joined Marathon proceedings, resuming his duties as producer. Guests to today’s program included Yeshivat Noam representatives DJ Wartelsky and Shimshon Goldstein, long time JM in the AM supporter Shimon Lefkowitz, Mordy Mehlman, proprietor of The Flatbush Jewish Journal, NSN General Manager Miriam L. Wallach with Sarah, Jacob and Ruthy Wallach, Mayer Fertig, Simon Jacob, Drs. Joseph and Rabin Rozehzadeh, Rabbi Sharbat of Cong. AABJ&D, and Rabbi Dr. Hal Levy with an enthusiastic group of student representatives from Joseph Kushner Hebrew Academy Rae Kushner Yeshiva High School in Livingston, NJ. Call-in guests to this morning’s program included Jewish music sensation Benny Friedman, Abe Bidreman, founder of Shuvu, JM in the AM Friday standards took place as well as Nachum conducted an abbreviated edition of The Weekly Update with Malcolm Hoenlein and he presented Rabbi Benjamin Yudin to discuss the Torah Portion of the Week. The total at the end of Day 5 of the Marathon is $72,000.

Marathon 2016 Day 2, 03/08/2016
The marathon rolled on with a great second day that featured several guests, entertainment and camaraderie. Volunteers on today’s program included JM in the AM staff member Randi Wartelsky and Court Report host Elliot Weiselberg who delivered the weekly Yeshiva League Sports Update live in the studio. Rabbi Eliezer Zwickler, spiritual leader of Cong. AABJ&D in West Orange, NJ and contributor to NSN’s Saturday Night Segal stopped by to encourage the listeners around the world to pledge their support. The King of Shlock, Lenny Solomon was in the studio urging everyone to pledge their support for all the great work JM in the AM accomplishes on a daily basis. The total at the end of Day 2 of the Marathon is $31,749.

Marathon 2016 Day 1, 03/07/2016
As always, Nachum was joined by an amazing crew of JM staff members this morning including NSN General Manager Miriam L. Wallach, Producer of week one of the Marathon proceedings and Mattes Weingast. The First Ladies of the JM in the AM Marathon, who tirelessly make it out every year to every morning of the marathon were at the phones from the opening ring providing a sense of calm to the proceedings; They include Judy Mitrani, Sheila Tannenbaum, and Gail Weintraub, the greatest mother-in-law in the world. Mr. Walter Elliot was on hand to answer phones and collect pledges as well. JM in the AM staff member and one of the hosts of NSN’s The Stunt Show (Thursdays, 1-2 p.m. ET) Mayer Fertig was on hand to read pledges and show his support for JM in the AM while another host of The Stunt Show, Leora Zomick stopped by to show her support and bring her amazing baked goods (listen to her conversation with Nachum). Rabbi Dovid Goldwasser called in for a special live edition of Morning Chizuk, urging everyone to be a part in the vital work of JM in the AM by pledging their support during this year’s Marathon. Nachum welcomed WFMU Station Manager/Program Director Ken Freedman to Day 1 to deliver the much anticipated, annual State of the Station Address. The total at the end of Day 1 of the Marathon is $27,118.
