Nachum hosted David Matlow, Theodor Herzl memorabilia collector and creator of The Herzl Project, on this morning’s JM in the AM to discuss the “All About Herzl” exhibition going on now at The Streicker Cultural Center in NYC. The exhibition began on September 17, 2024 and will run through January 23, 2025.
From the exhibition website:
The centerpiece of ALL ABOUT HERZL will be an exhibition in our Herbert & Eileen Bernard Museum showcasing a wide array of original Herzl documents, ephemera and artifacts. The exhibition includes materials drawn from the collections of the Theodor Herzl Archive at the Central Zionist Archives (CZA) in Israel, which is part of the World Zionist Organization (WZO), YIVO Institute for Jewish Research and from David Matlow – holder of the world’s largest private collection of Herzl memorabilia – the display will lead visitors along Herzl’s extraordinary journey, from his youth as an ardent Germanophile to his experiences with the rising tide of European antisemitism that led him to conclude that Jew-hating would neither be defeated nor cured, leaving the establishment of a Jewish state as the only route to safety.
